Access Policy

We aim to ensure that all employees, guests and others who use, or assist in, the provision of our services are treated equally and according to their needs - whether they have a mobility difficulty, a visual impairment, are deaf or hard of hearing, are deaf-blind, have a speech impairment or difficulty, have a learning or mental health disability, use a wheelchair, cane, walking frame or crutches, or have any other disability.


A drop off area is immediately outside the front hotel entrance and there are 3 steps into the building and an accessible ramp. Assistance with equipment and luggage is available 24/7.

The car park is at the rear of the hotel. There are 2 dedicated disabled parking spaces. Access to the Hotel rear entrance is across Colvreath Road and then accessed via 9 steps with a grab rail.

There is a same level disabled toilet located in Reception. Grab rails and an emergency pull cord in case of difficulty.

There is a wheelchair lift from Reception to the Main Restaurant.

The Ballroom and other function rooms are accessed via stairs. The Hotel staff can assist and provide ramp access to these. Please ask for details.

The main lift to the upper floors has a door opening of 780mm. A wheelchair must turn right through 90° to be accommodated. The internal dimensions are 1280mm by 730mm. It is not suitable for large powered wheelchairs – smaller wheelchairs can be accommodated but it is best to discuss your requirements with us before booking.

There is accommodation on the first floor consisting of 1 fully accessible bathroom with disabled toilet with grab rails. Shower with no threshold and reduced height washbasin. We have a chair with castors for use in the showers. There is an evac chair near this room adjacent to the fire exit for use by Hotel staff to assist in an emergency.

There are two bedrooms with “wet rooms” with wider access doors. Other bedrooms have walk in showers with varying threshold heights.

There are no steps within the ground floor area of the reception, cocktail bar and lounges.  Steps in the public areas and corridors have contrasting nosings for partially sighted guests.

We have devices to wake guests with hearing difficulties in the event of a fire. We have signs to hang on the outside of guest bedrooms for those who require assistance to evacuate the Hotel in an emergency.

There are hearing loops in the main restaurant and ballroom for use during speeches and conferences.

Hotel staff are available to assist any persons that may require assistance with any aspect of their stay such as, check-in, Porterage, help with menus. Assistance dogs are permitted in all guest areas of the hotel.
